Introduction:

Who would have thought that 10 little bears created by American Greetings in 1983 would have become such a collectible in the Nineties. These sweet little bears and their animal cousins have become loved by a great many people. They are sought after in thrift stores, at flea markets and garage sales and now are being found on the shelves of antiques and collectibles stores and in abundance on the “internet”. They touch the hearts of all who come in contact with them. This book is written to provide a guideline to those in hot pursuit of the lovable characters. Prices are based on condition and availability and may vary in different parts of the country. It is meant to be only a guideline. There were apx. 250 sub-contractors for Care Bear items, therefore the following items are only a sample of the many items made. I do not pretend to be the ultimate authority on Care Bears, but hope to help other collectors in their pursuit of all the wonderful items available.
